IMSF History

In the late 1970's, marine simulators became a popular training method for vessel safety and productivity. While there were no uniform simulator standards, many simulator users operated without complete consensus.

In 1978, the International Marine Simulator Forum (IMSF) organized and established compatible languages and formats for ship equations of motion, thus initiating simulator operator standards.

Today, the Forum focuses its activities on not only classification of marine simulators and simulator performance standards, but also the utility and performance of them, such as MET system. The IMSF consists of members from over 70 organizations from 26 countries, yet growth is anticipated and encouraged.
